Pushing the Boundaries of Lateral Surgery - Craig McMains, M.D.
POV: You fell asleep first in the sleepover
They are recommending a full disc replacement, cause i have c5 c6 herniation pushing on my left nerve root, do you recommend this surgery first?
poor quality of radiology pictures
Am I the only one that noticed the aorta wasn’t pumping blood. Lol. The man is dead
I had a double level fusion, single level Total Disc Replacement . L4/5 L5/S1 fused and the L3/4 level a TDR . An anterior hybrid surgery. For quite a good result. Back working etc. Relatively pain free. If it lasts another 20 years............they can lay me on the slab and show the world ;)
very interesting talk with very relevant results. thanks a lot.
Glad this was a cadaver lol After multiple thoracic vertebral fracture and cervical disc herniation after a seizure and collapse, I had a T4,5,6,7 fusion and C 4/5 fusion. After years of pain in thoracic spine, I was unable to even take a breath in, my sternum has protruded through my chest and sticks out and my kyphosis is measured at 90degrees now, metalware was taken out of thoracic spine pedicle screw had gone into intercostal space, causing inflammation and obvious discomfort. I’m having so many problems now, SVT and respiratory problems and digestion issues. I fall over all the time and the pain is horrible. I do not wish thoracic spine problems on anyone.
Is this a concerning
How long does it take for the surgery
What is the diameter of MH tool used to make pilot holes at around 6.27 min of video"?
and oh yeah...there's no compression fracture LOL
I'm hoping this is a cadaver seeing the lack of complete sterile technique (i.e. no gown)
I live in Tipton ind46072
What is the cost and how do I get one
A melhor aula do mundo sobre o assunto
How does the body deal with those ground up flaky bits of bone that were ground off?
I went through a year of EEG’s induced seizures with the electrodes on my head, and then I had a craniotomy and they put the electrodes in my brain, induced more seizures to pinpoint EXACTLY where they are NOT only happening but WHERE they are ORIGINATING! I am now getting ready for the temporal resection.,I will keep you guys updated on here. P.s I had a hemorrhagic stroke. And they then developed “ clonic tonic seizures
I hope the procedure went well, and I hope you have/had a speedy recovery
Very educational, learn alot
Fusion? More like arthroplasty! good job!
Where’s your mask?
Just had my l5-s1 fusion 2 days ago. Stomach where the incision was done really hurts but my back doesn’t hurt at all as of now
25 %of what folk need re op. Anterior or posterior.
I just had posterior. Went well. But. My neck muscle pain from surgery is quite significant.
this is not a fusion. its clearly a total disc replacement.
Disk replacement seems to work better on neck and not back
Having ALIF surgery in two weeks. After 16 years in Pain Management, many, many injections, two ablations, physical therapy, a lot of pain medicine, I ran out of options. The last time my Pain Management Doctor tried to do an injection, he didn’t have the space to place the needle and that’s when he referred me to my Neurosurgeon. Because the Spondylolthesis L5 over S1 is so bad, I’m experiencing nerve damage down my leg. Reason my back is ruined is I started gymnastics at two and became a Professional Freestyle Skier. All the pounding…scoliosis, 5 fractured vertebrae etc. yeah probably shouldn’t have watched this😔
How did it go ?? The ALIF
Good demo But i think it can be done by small lateral incision on required level onstead of making a large midline incision which later on causes cervical pain? Correct me if i am wrong
Thank you so much for such a wonderful lecture
Thx for showing this!
Will a 360 degree L4/L5 anterior and posterior approach surgery result in loss of libido and of sensation down there? Just wondering if it means the end of an active sex life.
Do you perform the surgery of posural kyphosis?
I would say so.
i am really scared to have upcoming anterior and posterior lumbar surgery, seeing this makes me more frightened and incredibly nervous
I’ve got 3 symptomatic levels 🥺
Endoscopic or open with midline incision ?
Bro put on his shades and rest is history 🙂
Hi, what’s the difference between an orthopedic surgeon and Neurologist surgeon for this type of surgery?
There was no difference for me, my first discectomy was done by a neurosurgeon. My second 2 and my upcoming alif/plif with orthopedic spine surgeon (and vascular surgeon to get to spine)
I wish you talked more on Trabeculo septo marginalis , rest it was good
Nice
I’m glad the question of an effective discectomy was asked about in this setting. And the surgeons honest response. This is critical for those with disc herniations and repeat herniations after an original discectomy. Wouldn’t want to wake up with the same pain.
Amazing!
Loss of knife control an inch from the iliac artery, not good.
Can this device be helpful for someone that has nerve damage in the pectoralis muscle ( Chest) and serratus muscle located under the arm? Muscle atrophy in the dorsi muscle also. All my issues on my right side effect how I move my right arm. They came about after Breast cancer but mostly from bad surgeries.
Let see her listen to you
